Road Trip: St. Louis, Missouri

Busch Stadium, St. LouisBusch Stadium, St. Louis

Hi friends! As I mentioned in my previous post, my husband Dillon and I decided to travel down to Colorado instead of driving to the northeastern states. You can read more about why we did that in that blog post. But after spending 2 weeks in Colorado, we drove east to Kansas. We spent a night there, and then we drove to Missouri in late August.

MLB Game at Busch Stadium

We planned to be in St. Louis, Missouri to watch the MLB game and see the Cardinals face the Atlanta Braves. Since there is no MLB team in North Carolina, Dillon cheers for the team closer to Charlotte, which would be the Atlanta Braves. I am more of an NHL girl since I worked as an ice girl for the Florida Panthers for 3 years. But Dillon started getting me more into baseball. He is also teaching me the rules so I can understand the sport better.

The day we arrived there, we checked in to our hotel room, got ready, and drove to watch the first game of the Atlanta facing the Cardinals that weekend. Dillon got a great deal for the first game that week. We were super close to the field as you can see from the pictures below. There were several times when the ball got thrown close to us! Dillon almost caught it! Thankfully, the Braves won the first game so Dillon was very happy about that.

The next day we went back to watch the game again (they were facing the Cardinals 3 days in a row). This time around, we sat in the exact opposite location of the previous day and got an entirely different view of the field. Although we weren’t within close proximity to where the ball gets thrown, we got a great view of the field from higher up, as well as a great view of the St. Louis Arch. Scroll below for pictures.

Outfit Details

As for my outfit, you can find more details on the LTK app where I linked my outfits (here, and here). My white puff sleeve top is from an outlet store. I love the puff sleeves! I’ve been into dresses with puff sleeves lately too. The zipper skirt was from LF stores when I used to work there a while back. If you scroll down, you can see my pink, orange, and navy color-block dress. That dress is from Marciano. I love the colors in that dress and I feel like this year is all about colors.

Obviously I can’t pack everything for a road-trip, and I had no idea Dillon and I would be going to a baseball game. So since I didn’t have a baseball jersey, the next closest thing would be to wear the colors from the team we were cheering for. Hence the navy in the dress lol. Totally overdressed but I don’t mind haha.

St. Louis Arch

Right before we went to watch the game on Saturday, we went to this cool rooftop bar called Three Sixty. I believe the reason for that is because you get 360 degree views of the city, including an amazing view of the Arch. The food was delicious! I ordered truffle mushroom pizza and shared it with Dillon. So so good!

We also walked up close to the Arch. We were going to take the elevator up to the top, but tickets to go up there were sold out. I actually found out this trip that the Arch is considered a national park. It was considered the Gateway to the West and reflects the Westward Expansion of the United States during the 19th century. Quick little history lesson for ya. You can read more about the elevator that goes to the top on their website.

Even though we didn’t get to ride the elevator up, we took some pictures right outside the Arch. I even noticed some of the leaves changing colors and it got me so excited for Fall! This whole area is great for pictures. Definitely go closer to sunrise or sunset to avoid the crowds if you don’t want people in the background of your pictures. We went midday and it was hard to avoid the crowds. It was also hard to avoid the intense shadows the sun creates in the middle of the day. Just something to keep in mind.

We were only in St. Louis for two days, but if were to stay for a longer time, here is what I would do:

  • Take pictures in Kiener Plaza Park
  • See the pretty homes in Lafayette Square Historic District
  • Take pictures in front of Sandy Creek Covered Bridge
  • Visit Forest Park
  • Bailey’s Chocolate Bar
