Hi friends! As Hurricane Ian is approaching Florida, I am reminiscing my recent road trip with my husband Dillon. Right before heading back to visit the family in Charlotte, we ended our road trip spending a week in Tennessee.
We checked in to our Airbnb on August 30th and checked out September 6th. Our Airbnb was very spacious and had the most amazing views of the mountains. We were pretty high up in elevation. It took more than half an hour to drive down from the top where our Airbnb was located.
Since it’s quite a bit of a drive to get to town from all the up where we were at, we mainly spent our time there just taking in the views. That was definitely the highlight of the Airbnb! We did drive down one time to go to the gym, get Chipotle and groceries. But that’s about it.
Most of the days, we spent hours taking in the views from the balcony. The pictures from this post are all from the balcony. There was also a hot tub in the balcony so we spent an evening there drinking wine and looking up at the stars! Such a sweet moment.
I’ve been to Tennessee before when I was really young. Our family got to visit the Great Smoky Mountains. This is a must if you are going to Tennessee for the first time! But since Dillon and I have been there before, we didn’t go this time around.
However, when we checked out of our Airbnb, we noticed the trees starting to change colors! This is definitely earlier than most years. It wasn’t all of the trees, just a few, but it was so exciting to see. If you plan on visiting this beautiful state, try to go when the leaves are changing at their peak. It happens earlier in higher elevations so that’s something to keep in mind. Usually as a rule of thumb, the leaves change color and peak at mid-October.
Outfits
Chilling indoors most days means I wore PJs and loungewear most of the time. If scroll to the image above, that was one morning Dillon and I woke up earlier and got a glimpse of the gorgeous sunrise. We made coffee and just enjoyed the moment.
I wore those furry slippers literally 24/7. I got them from Amazon to wear during the day of my wedding. But I put them to good use and wear it all the time now while I’m at home. I linked them below so you can check it out. My PJs are also from Amazon. It’s lilac and silk. It even comes in a set with PJ pants, a camisole, a silk hair tie, and an eye mask. If you love to match and still look cute while going to bed, this set is for you!
My Experience Road-tripping for 3 Months
I plan to make another post that’s more in depth about my overall road trip experience and how it’s like to live on the road for three months. But for this post, I’ll keep it super brief.
Overall it was amazing time seeing all these new states that I’ve never been to before! I realized even more just how beautiful this country is! The landscapes are so vast! Living on the road has its challenges, which I’ll explain in a future post, but that’s part of the fun. I love traveling with my husband, Dillon. He is pretty experienced when it comes to traveling. He’s been all over the USA (literally all 50 states) and to several countries around the globe. He definitely knows how to travel.
Anyway, I feel like I experienced so many wonderful moments these three months traveling all over the country. It was such a great experience! I have a lot to be grateful for 🙂
That is all.
XO,
Jessica Turner
