Road Trip: Lake Tahoe

I have been wanting to go to Lake Tahoe ever since I discovered what it was on Pinterest. I’m happy to say that Dillon and I made a trip there while on our road trip adventures. It was so beautiful! This post is going to be fairly short because although we stayed there for 4 days, we kept our activities minimal because our purpose was more to relax and enjoy the beautiful lake.

4th of July

One of my favorite parts of Lake Tahoe was being there on 4th of July! We checked in on July 4th afternoon. After getting settled, we went straight to the beach to lay out. They actually call it “beach” because it has sand like a beach and it almost looks like an ocean, but much calmer. However, Lake Tahoe is technically a lake. It is situated on the border of California and Nevada. Where we had our Airbnb was South Lake Tahoe (still on the Cali side). If you look it up on a map, you will see that it’s a very big lake. It has really fresh and nice quality water.

4th of July Day was packed with activities. The one Dillon and I were most looking forward to though, was the fireworks on the beach. After laying out for some time, we went back to our room and took showers and ate a good dinner before the show. Then we walked over to see the fireworks. It was such a good show! I was so impressed with their fireworks show. I’ve been to the beach on 4th of July many times and the Lake Tahoe one was just as good as the ones I’ve seen growing up.

I love celebrating 4th of July! I was born in Brazil but lived in the United States for most of my life. Coming from a country where the lifestyle is much harder and it’s way more difficult to attain anything, I feel truly blessed to live here. No country is perfect, but that doesn’t stop me from celebrating my current home.

Lake Tahoe

The following days, we worked on our laptops (Dillon with his business, and me with my blog), then laid out at the beach in the afternoon. Dillon has a gym membership and they have several locations around the U.S so he occasionally goes. It was relaxing just enjoying Lake Tahoe and not having an itinerary to follow. These are more of our “free days” that we get to catch up with anything we want to do.

Sand Harbor

I did some quick research and discovered an area of Lake Tahoe called Sand Harbor that has the clearest waters. It was 30 minutes from our rental spot so Dillon and I decided to do an afternoon there. It was so beautiful out there! And they were right about the clear waters! Even the 30 min drive there was amazing. I’d say the view my even be better than some beaches because the mountains are in the background of the Lake Tahoe. When we got there, we saw these giant rocks that were smooth enough to walk on top of. We saw some people laying out on top of the rocks. Scroll below for photos. Date Night

Dillon and I wanted to end our trip to Lake Tahoe eating at an Italian restaurant. While traveling, I sometimes make dinner or lunch and then other times we might eat out. It just depends. But it’s good to keep some of our routine going even while traveling. It’s also healthier to make meals at home (aka: our Airbnb). But on certain nights, we treat ourselves to dinner for a date night. It’s always special when we do. This time, we went to Izabella Ristorante Italiano which was just 5 minutes from our Aibnb. It was such a nice dinner and fun to spend quality time with my husband. I got my favorite dish, seafood pasta.
