Hi friends! It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here, but I will fill you in as to why in future blog posts. Basically though, there’s been a lot of exciting things that happened that drew my attention away for a bit, but I’m glad to come back here and just use this space as a place to share things that I love with you all!
All that aside, this post is way overdue, but who’s keeping tabs? So I recently had my birthday March 20th, which is also the first day of spring! I love spring season! I’m all for the florals and beautiful bright happy colors. There’s definitely beauty in every season, but I do love spring. I wanted my outfit to reflect that so if you want my dress details, feel free to scroll down.
Since it’s been a while since I last posted, I wanted to reintroduce myself with some quick facts about me (and also because this is a late birthday post lol):
Fun Facts:
- I was born in Brazil and lived there for the first 6 years of my life. I can speak Portuguese (although I could definitely use some improvement haha)
- I went through a phase of my life where I wanted to try so many hobbies- I picked up fire hooping and LED hooping for a while! I thought acrobatics and flexibility was so cool, I even took a class in aerial silks. Ultimately, the hobby that stuck the most was running and ice skating. I ran a few races alongside my sister who shares a passion for running as well. Taking figure skating classes while I was a teenager helped me when working as an ice girl for the Florida Panthers NHL team. I have a whole highlight on that on my IG! (@jessbturner)
- Although I love the beach and live by the ocean, I get scared of the open water. Due to some friendly peer pressure, I swam with sharks in Hawaii but had a mini panic attack at first when I jumped in. I checked that off the bucket list but might never do that again! Even when I went tubing I was scared of what could be lurking beneath me. I prefer to stay where my feet could reach the floor.
- I am one of those people that start a book and take forever to finish. Or, I might start reading multiple books instead of reading just one straight through. I’m working on it…
- I would love to get into watercolor painting! I tried it a few times and loved it! My first major was actually graphic design, but I do prefer hands-on art.
- I tend to be mostly introverted. If I am comfortable with someone then I can actually talk a lot. But if I’m just meeting you, don’t expect that.
- One of my favorite meals is seafood pasta! I had black squid ink pasta with mussels at Area 31 in Miami one time and it was so good! That is usually my go-to meal at restaurants.
- I am the middle child- I have an older sister and a younger sister. They are amazing and I love them so much!!
- As I’ve gotten older, I’ve really come to appreciate the little things in life. A walk in the park with my husband, a good meal with my family around me, running outside on a pretty day… It’s so good to be present in the moment and enjoy even the little things.
- My husband jokes that I’m more British than Brazilian because I love tea and that was when I was watching British shows on TV like Downton Abbey and The Great British Baking Show. Lol maybe I have a distant relative that was British?? haha
- I am definitely not a big city girl. I enjoy visiting big cities, but have no intentions on making my home in those places. I prefer some kind of nature around me and a backyard with pretty blooms and some land to frolick in.
- I love flowers, the color pink, lipstick, and girly things:)
- I worked 4 retail stores during my college years! First, it was a private school uniform store for a short season, then Marciano at the mall, then LF stores, and finally a small boutique bikini store by the beach! I know a lot of people complain about working retail, but I learned a lot from my experiences and even got to work at the Miami Swim Week event one time!
- Now that Dillon and I have a home, I plan on gardening a little. Any tips for growing potted plants? Leave them below please 🙂
- I love Jesus. Life with Him is so much better!
Ok, enough about me….but I’ll just share my outfit details below in case you’re interested. This was my birthday attire for dinner night with my amazing husband, Dillon. Overall, it was such a wonderful birthday and I’m so thankful for another year of life <3
