Wyatt’s Rookie Year Birthday Party!

In August we celebrated my son’s first birthday! I still can’t believe he turned one already! Time goes by so fast. A few months prior I started brainstorming themes for Wyatt’s birthday because I was getting excited to plan for it. I wrote down some ideas on the notes app and eventually narrowed it down Wyatt’s Rookie Year (baseball theme). Dillon is a huge fan of baseball and we figured it was just right.

The week of his birthday, we did a DIY photoshoot at a baseball field. I ordered a custom made baseball outfit from Etsy. He looked so cute in his baseball uniform. During the photoshoot he loved playing with the bat and ball so it made it easy to snap some candid photos of him. I also ended up bringing my last 12 month milestone sign for his framed milestone pictures (more of that later in this post). Wyatt had a great time!

Birthday Party Details

Venue

We had Wyatt’s birthday party at a children’s museum (which happened to be a school in the past). There’s a bunch of rooms each with its own theme where kids could play pretend. I figured it would be more fun for the kids if we had the party in a place made just for them instead of just celebrating at my house. It worked out great!

Also the weather was sunny and thankfully no rain! That was something I had to consider throwing a party in Florida in August. But it all worked out.

Outfit

I wanted to stay in theme but still dress up! I wore a blue linen dress from Lulus. It was sleeveless and midi length. I will be linking it below:) It did run a little big so I went with an X-small. For jewelry, I found a choker style freshwater pearl necklace on Amazon. My white block heels are from Target. They no longer carry this exact one so I linked similar styles below.

Decor

I actually had a lot of fun brainstorming decor related to our baseball rookie year theme. Since we were not celebrating at home, I had to be strategic about the set up. A lot of venues give you a limited time to set up decor before the party. Our venue was so great in helping us out!

For the backdrop, I ordered a baseball theme one from Amazon. I also ordered the backdrop frame from Amazon as well. I’m linking the items I used below:) I found the perfect colors I wanted for the balloons that came in a set and we hung them on the backdrop frame. It was classic baseball colors that come to mind- red, blue, and a sandy beige color.

We brought our high chair from home and decorated it with tassels in our theme colors. On the other corner, we displayed a “1” marquee sign that lights up. Everything looked great! I was really impressed with how everything came out considering we only had 30 minutes to set everything up.

We also set up party favors in the little corner. I got a baseball themed set from Amazon and it had a bunch of fun little toys for kids! It was perfect!

For the “concessions” food table, the venue provided table covers, plates, utensils, and napkins so I didn’t have to worry about that. They coordinated with me prior to the party about what colors I wanted for what based on the theme. I also added my own decor like a “concessions” banner, mini wooden baseball bats and practice balls, his milestone pictures, and even fake grass to add a little more life to the table. You can check out my IG reel here to see how it all came together! <3

Food

For food, we kept it casual for a sport’s themed kid’s birthday party. We had lots of pizza, popcorn chicken, and veggies. For snacks we had chips, homemade popcorn that we put inside vintage popcorn baggies, and peanuts. For dessert, we had cupcakes, Brazilian treats (classic for any birthday party), and chocolate-dipped Oreos made to look like baseballs.

I actually made my son’s cake myself. I got an easy recipe online because I wanted something healthier for him. I decorated with homemade frosting and some fresh berries that fit the color scheme perfectly! He actually loved his cake so I was so happy considering it was my first layered cake!

Stationary

As far as stationary goes, I kept it easy and simple and consistent with the theme. I found a baseball themed birthday bundle stationary set on Etsy. I will be linking below:) It had everything I needed  plus more! I made digital invites, party favor signs, concessions menu sign, cupcake toppers, and more with this birthday bundle.

I hope these pictures and details that I shared help give you guys some inspiration if you are also planning a birthday party! Thanks for reading!
